Vego Bistro hit the road with a vegan-exclusive food truck just last year in Atlanta. They've aided the community by offering free food to low-income and homeless people with the help of local organizations.

A couple near Atlanta, Georgia, have been able to improve their lives and the lives of others through their Vego Bistro project. Lindsay and David Esterline created the Vego Bistro, a vegan food truck, after going vegan themselves. As of right now, the truck serves free food to low-income and homeless people once a month. Even more exciting? They’re about to open up a new restaurant.

Vego Bistro currently travels around the Greater Atlanta area to promote a healthy eating lifestyle. They have a full menu that contains only plant-based foods that are simple, healthy, and most importantly, delicious. Both Lindsay and David had to improve their own health by lowering blood pressure and cholesterol, and dealing with allergies. Unsurprisingly, plant-based food was an awesome way to do that without sacrificing taste and variety.

“Vego understands people care about their health, and everyone is just in a different stage in their life regarding health,” the company explains. “Vego was created to be that place where people can eat healthy food and become motivated to make a change in their lifestyle. Vego is revolutionizing the notion that healthy food can be appetizing.”

Food items are separated into entrees, sides, cold-pressed juices, and soups and desserts of the day. Entrees range from $8 to $10 with familiar-sounding options like the “BBQ Pulled Vork Sandwich” and “Macaroni and Cheez.”

Vego Bistro offers catering and vending services in the area. They go anywhere within a 30-mile radius of Smyrna, Georgia, which includes most of the Greater Atlanta area. Another great feature they provide is free weekend catering at local shelters for low-income and homeless people. They’ve collaborated with local non-profit organizations and churches to help keep the service going.

As Vego Bistro continues to grow, they’re planning to launch a new restaurant at the Brookwood Plaza in Austell, Georgia. On the company’s GoFundMe page, they mention the new store will be a “medium-sized, modern fast-casual restaurant” with a capacity of 30 people. They are currently looking to replace needed utility equipment and have been renovating the kitchen.

For those that want to help with the new restaurant or feeding the homeless, they can donate through crowdfunding or directly on their site. People can also get a Vego-themed T-shirt at the $19.50 reward tier. No date has been given on when the full-service restaurant will open just yet.
